SCRABBLE ANYONE?

We first saw the Chateau Digoine from the barge en route to Genelard.  It enticed us with its beautiful turrets which we glimpsed through the trees.  What a delight to spend a summer afternoon exploring it with our good friend Marni!  We were greeted by a very well-dressed gentleman who took our small group to an annex.  Inside was an exquisite little replica of a Renaissance Italian theatre, built by the original owner for the amusement of his guests.  As we continued on the tour,  given in French, we came to realize that our guide was the current owner! He was delightful and very apologetic that some of the interior furnishings were not quite from the original period.  The rooms inside are light and airy as the Chateau Digoine was built as a summer residence.  It is beautifully furnished throughout with antiques and yet manages to convey a warm, lived-in feel.  As avid players, we were amused to see a well-worn Scrabble game tucked under an antique side table, as if the owner had done a hasty tidy up just prior to our visit!
